Koh Samui (2)

-Part 2-

Some snapshot of the speedboat.

I get seasick pretty easily (which sux because I love the ocean) but this speedboat ride was only 15 minutes so it wasn't too bad!

This photo was taken at Koh Tan which was super serene and quiet. Apart from the people on our boat I didn't really spot any other human beings (freaks me out a little in the beginning but hey--it was actually quite nice).

Breakfast with a view is the best kind of breakfast. Not even kidding.

Infinity pool with ocean view is also the best kind of pool. Not even kidding as well hehe.

The Commons (Bangkok)

New hangout spot in the city!
Description taken directly from their website:

"We want to be Thonglor's backyard a place where you can spend quality time in the neighborhood while being a little closer to a nature"

I visited during the night, but would love to go back again some time during the day.

Lots and lots of stairs. Really digging the backyard concept here. The trees work surprisingly well with the white/concrete structure.

The view from above! In BKK where everything is clumped together into one tiny space, this place is considered pretty spacious.

Jona Waffle (where they sell, um, waffles?) and Plant House (okay for this one I'm assuming they have plants and nature-y stuff)

The first floor is a market! The vibe is similar to Grand Central Market in DTLA except it's air-conditioned (because Bangkokians cannot live without the AC) and a lot smaller.

She's having a hard time choosing bread because let's be honest, breads are pretty awesome.

Koh Samui (1)

Koh Samui is an island located off the east coast of Thailand

It is Thailand's 2nd largest island after Phuket! (if you ever visit Thailand before, you probably heard of Phuket many, many times from many, many people)

Summer in Thailand is technically April-May but due to timing complications, this trip was during June. Sadly, June is rainy season and there's rain throughout most of the trip :(

Conrad Koh Samui
The resort itself is a 50 minutes drive from the airport. You get the whole oceanfront view from above which is insaneeee. The only issue, though, is that the area is very hilly. Going from place to place (room to pool, pool to beach, beach to restaurant) requires buggy/golf cart. While everyone seems to enjoy the cart, most of the time this is my facial expression ;____;
.....
Not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that I hate roller coasters but the ride was definitely more scary than fun for me.

Also, every room comes with a private pool which is pretty sweet (but let's be fair, most resorts in Thailand do come with private pool so....)

The view from our room!

This bathtub is gigantic, btw. I have no idea why it has to be that spacious but I'm not complaining either.
Playing on the swing like a 5 years old :3 This was taken in Koh Tan which is a small island about 15 minutes (on a speedboat) from Koh Samui.

Food for thought

Food for thought. A little something to think about today for everyone reading this.

  • How many people would you impress
    • If they don't know where you came from
    • If they don't know your nationality
    • If they don't know what gender you are
    • If they don't know how old you are
    • If they don't know anything at all about you
What if the expectations and the stigma surrounding social constructs and biological constructs no longer exist?

How many people would you impress just by the things you say and the things you do? And making sure that the things you say match up with the things you do?

The question is not whether it is possible or not--

The question is how many people would be impressed by you.

Impressed by who you are and not by what the world thinks you are.
.
.
.
Because some days I just wanted to know how many people I would impress without the privileges that I have.

How many people would I impress with just the things I say and the things I do.

Even if I don't impress anyone at all, I still wanted to know

Even if it hurts, I still wanted to know.

Because I wanted to become a better person and you can't become a better person living within the bubble of your own privileges.

Thinking you impressed so many people when in fact, they are only impressed by how the world sees you, rather than how you see yourself.
